DECCANHERLD New Delhi: July 10, 2015, DHNS http://www.deccanherald.comArticle: News 3 BSES men on duty face goon attack

Assailants allegedly led by ex-MLA Shokeen's brother

Three BSES Rajdhani Power officials were injured in an alleged attack led by the brother of former Mundka MLA Rambir Shokeen during routine inspection in west Delhi’s Kamruddin Nagar on Tuesday.

The attack occurred when the officials were returning to office after a meeting with Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Mundka, Sukhbir Singh Dalal.

Sources said the inspection was conducted as some pockets in west Delhi has been reporting high incidents of power theft.

The team included Assistant Vice President (Division Head Mundka) Yudh Veer Singh, Head Business (West) T R Bhatiya and Assistant Vice President (Cheat Division Nangloi and Mundka) Vikrant Seth. At 1.30 pm, they were in Kamruddin Nagar when Bhatiya suggested that they conduct an inspection.

“As they were walking, four people came there in a Hyundai Santro car and viciously attacked them for no apparent reason. They also hurled abuses and threatened with dire consequences,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Pushpendra Kumar said.

It is alleged that the attackers were led by former MLA Rambir Shokeen’s brother Jagdev alias Jagte.

“The group also forcibly took the officials to a nearby room, where they were held captive for a while. They were set free only after police intervened,” sources added.

The three officials sustained injuries, and one of them was taken to Dr B L Kapur Memorial Hospital.

“They identified the attacker as Jagdev. Their medical examination was conducted at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital,” Kumar added.

A case under sections 186 (obstructing public servant), 332 (causing hurt), 353 (assault), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered with Nangloi police station.

In July 2014, Jagdev was also booked for allegedly beating up two supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Azad Singh in west Delhi’s Nihal Vihar.

Rambir is also named in an FIR filed under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) after the arrest of criminals Neeraj Bawana and Pankaj Sehrawat.

Neeraj Bawana is Rambir’s nephew, and has named the former MLA as his accomplice in several crimes.

When contacted by Deccan Herald, a BSES official said, “This attack once again shows the precarious conditions under which our officials operate. Such incidents have never diminished the spirit and resolve of our officials, who share the company’s vision to see a city free from the cudgels of power theft.” The official said BSES has taken measures to spruce up the network in west Delhi.
